09/16/2005: "Workshop, the Week-end and Chicken Pox"

Today I'm finishing up my notes and reviewing my presentation for a workshop I'm presenting at my RWA chapter, GRW, tomorrow. I'm covering conflict and while I think it's really intersting, I hope no one falls asleep and lands face first in their pasta plate. Ack. It doesn't make me nervous to speak in front of a group, but I'm always concerned that I have content that means everyone leaves with some new insight and aren't bored to death in the interim.

Of course, this means I'll miss The Girl's soccer game and her first performance of the season (she's part of a professional children's choir). Of course, the girl may be missing all of this as well. One of her car pool buddies for soccer came down with the chicken pox last week, depsite having been vaccinated. Yesterday I picked up her other buddy and dropped them off at practice. The other girl's mom picked up and brought home. I got a call bright and early this morning. The little bud she was with yesterday now has the chicken pox. shocked Better yet, my husband, has never had the chicken pox. sleepy If I have both of them down for the count with the chicken pox...I may just have to find a really tall bridge.... crazy

"Some men admit they avoid confrontation (about breaking up) because they’re afraid we’ll cry. Of course we’ll cry; we cry at Hallmark commercials. What they don’t understand is that we’re not crying because of them, we’re crying because now we have to get naked in front of someone else.”
-Cindy Chupack, TV writer
